Here it is, by popular demand.... Cap'n Jim's Star Wars theme!
V.90 Created by Jim Varner on 7/28/96 at 5:15 a.m.
For themes, cursors, 3d renderings, music and more, check out my webpage at
http://www.uncg.edu/~jgvarner
--------------------------------------NOTES--------------------------------------------
I have tried to model this theme after the final assault on the deathstar in Star Wars,
and if I have a chance, I will try to do a theme for each movie in the series!
Included in this release (v .90) are the wall paper, sounds, icons, cursors etc.
This release is labelled v .90 because I still want to add a few more sounds, tweak
the color/font scheme, and come up with a nifty freeware jpeg screensaver (so that you
can look at all the cool pictures of the week while your computer idles).
I have also included some cursors and icons that are not actually used, but I spent a lot
of time making them, so the least you can do is to take a look. Note-The A-wing cursor
is particularly cool. I have also thrown in two midi files for good measure.
-----------------------------Installation instructions:---------------------------------
Just unzip into your themes directory. It will make a directory called "dstar" where
it will store all the sounds, icons, and cursors. Once installed, simply choose the
death star assault theme in your themes control panel.
If you don't have MS-PLUS, you can still use this file, but you will have to unzip
the individual components into their respective win 95 directories and choose them
from the control panel. You will also have to convert the .jpg file to a .bmp file so that
windows will display it. In addition, you may have trouble displaying the icons since
they are the new 48x48 versions used by MS-PLUS. I have included 32x32 versions at no
extra charge that can be used on any windows based system (aren't I Nice?)
----------------------Special Note regarding icons & cursors--------------------------
The cursors included in this theme were primarily designed to be run on 16 bit color or
higher machines. If you are running in 256 color mode, you will need to change the
cursors to the 16 color versions which are included. Also, I have included both big and
small icons (48x48 & 32x32). The default is large, but the small icons are needed
for non-plus and windows NT systems (If you have already have Plus, it will shrink them
down if you choose regular sized icons).
----------------------------------Version History-------------------------------------
Version .95- First posted on web
Version .96- Morphing resize icons completed
Version .97- New Background image added, Rebel symbol background busy cursor added.
Future Versions-
I hope to find a freeware jpeg changer to use as a screensaver. Till then,
you will just have to be content with "Stars". I also hope to add more sound effects.
Also, my next theme will be center around the Empire and the Second film-- maybe. Keep an
eye out for it!!!
--------------------------------------CREDITS---------------------------------------
Star Wars Ship designs, music, .wavs, concepts, and everything else are copyrighted
by George Lucas and Lucasfilm Ltd.
Ship, helmets, R2D2 and deathstar meshes were created by Harry Chang- A real cool
guy who is also a member of the Star Wars Modelling Alliance.
All the cursors, pictures, and jpegs were rendered using 3D Studio Max from Kinetix.
3D Max images were then converted into Icons and Cursors using MicroAngelo from
Impact Software.
